Gelotto (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Pixel Walk mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name (if provided)
  • Profile photo URL (if using Google Sign-In)
  • Firebase Authentication identifiers

Location Data

When you use the “Walk” feature, we collect:

  • GPS coordinates during active walks
  • Walking route data and timestamps
  • Distance traveled
  • Duration of walks

Important: Location data is only collected when you actively start a walk session. We do not track your location in the background when the app is closed or when you are not on an active walk.

Health & Activity Data (Optional)

If you enable Health Tracking in the app Settings, we may collect:

  • Step count during walks (from Health Connect on Android or HealthKit on iOS)
  • Activity recognition data to detect when you are walking

This data is used to:

  • Display your step count on walk completion screens
  • Calculate bonus coins for maintaining a healthy walking pace
  • Track cumulative steps in your profile statistics

Important: Health tracking is entirely optional and can be disabled in Settings at any time. Health data is stored locally on your device and synced to your account for cross-device access. We do not sell or share your health data with third parties.

User-Created Content

  • Pixel art designs you create
  • Walk history and completed walks
  • Design names and metadata

Usage Data

  • App usage statistics (features used, session duration)
  • Device information (device type, operating system)
  • Error logs and crash reports

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

  • Account Management: To create and manage your account
  • Core Functionality: To enable GPS-based walk tracking and pixel art painting
  • Cloud Sync: To synchronize your designs and walk history across devices
  • Progress Tracking: To calculate coins earned, achievements unlocked, and statistics
  • Social Features: To enable sharing designs and viewing leaderboards (if you opt-in)
  • Improvements: To analyze usage patterns and improve the App

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security measures:

  • Local Storage: Designs and walks are cached locally on your device using SQLite
  • Cloud Storage: Data is synced to Google Cloud Platform (Firebase and PostgreSQL)
  • Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Authentication: Account access is secured through Firebase Authentication

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, cloud storage, and analytics
  • Google Sign-In: Optional authentication method
  • OpenStreetMap: Map tiles for the walking interface (no personal data shared)

These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in these circumstances:

  • Public Content: If you choose to share a design or walk publicly, it becomes visible to other users
  • Leaderboards: Anonymized statistics may appear on public leaderboards
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights
  • Service Providers: With trusted partners who help operate our services (under strict confidentiality)

Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update or correct your account information
  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt-Out: Disable public sharing or leaderboard participation

Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time through:

When you delete your account:

  • Permanently removed: Your profile, email, display name, private designs, private walks, achievements, and Firebase account
  • Anonymized: Public designs and walks you've shared are kept but attributed to “Deleted User”

This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Pixel Walk is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
